The Jack Costello Boxing Club is located in the Tacony section of Northeast Philadelphia. It was founded by Tim Costello in 1996 in honor of his father, Jack. The gym is entirely volunteer-run and offers training to children and young adults, attracting youth from Tacony and surrounding neighborhoods.

When reflecting on the difficulties of running a gym entirely on a volunteer basis, Costello said, "Whatever it is - God, miracles, whatever you want to call it - there's always a kid that comes in that happens to need you when you think everything's bad, and that makes everything better".
